Stochastic Thoughts: What Not to Do in an FPS (Thanks, Ghostbusters!)

– Don’t forget a radar. Nothing more annoying than an NPC telling you to follow them and you having no idea where they are. Play the Times Square scene and see how easy you find it to keep track of Ray by sight.

– Don’t leave core elements out of your tutorial. You know, if you’re going to force me through that thing, you better not forget essential stuff, like dodging.

– Don’t use the same image and music in the same order on every loading screen. No one wants to hear the beginning of the theme song five times in a row between deaths.

– Don’t naturalize your feedback. It’s cute that the health meter is on the proton pack, but it would be cuter to be able to read it.
